Panthera leo
[conservation_status]
It doesn’t need to move to be noticed. Just being there is enough.
The lion carries weight — not just in size, but in presence. Males with heavy manes. Females that do most of the hunting. A pride stretched in the shade, half-asleep but always alert.
They don’t chase for speed. They wait, surround, coordinate. A sudden rush when the timing is right.
Lions live in open plains, dry woodlands, scrub — anywhere with cover, prey, and space. But even they are not safe from shrinking land and rising conflict. The roar still echoes, but fewer and fewer places can hold it.
