Mungos mungo
Statut de Conservation (Liste Rouge de l'UICN):
Préoccupation mineure (LC)
Low to the ground, fast-footed, and full of energy.
Banded mongooses travel in busy groups — snuffling through the grass, flipping over rocks, chattering constantly. They’re insect hunters, scavengers, opportunists. Each one is small, but together they form a sharp-eyed unit, alert to threats and quick to scatter. Their striped backs and upright stance give them a constant sense of readiness.
They sleep in burrows, raise their young communally, and rarely stay still for long. Efficient, social, and tougher than they look — they thrive by sticking together.
