Syncerus caffer
Statut de Conservation (Liste Rouge de l'UICN):
Quasi menacée (NT)
It stands heavy, steady, unhurried — but never relaxed.
Cape buffalo live in herds, always watching, always ready to turn. Their reputation is built on unpredictability: they don’t bluff, and they don’t forget. They graze in wetlands, floodplains, open grasslands. Often in silence, but always with eyes and ears tuned to danger — or to the mood of the herd.
Lions may hunt them, but it’s not easy. A single buffalo can charge with enough force to scatter a pride. Massive, resilient, and sharp-tempered — this is not an animal to underestimate.
