Meeting the Yellow Baboon

Papio cynocephalus

Statut de Conservation (Liste Rouge de l'UICN): Préoccupation mineure (LC)

Slimmer, faster, more agile than their cousins — but just as sharp.

Yellow baboons live in large, shifting troops that move constantly through woodland and savanna. They rise early, travel far, and stay alert. Their bodies are long-limbed and lean, their fur golden in the sun. They climb easily, run fast, and rarely stay in one place for long.

Like all baboons, their lives revolve around social ties — grooming, hierarchy, quiet alliances. They live close to the edge, between forest and field, between caution and curiosity.
