Otaria flavescens
Statut de Conservation (Liste Rouge de l'UICN):
Préoccupation mineure (LC)
Thick neck, blunt snout, and a roar that carries over the surf.
These sea lions haul out in noisy colonies along rocky shores, where males fight for space and females raise their pups in tight groups. The males are massive, with manes of coarse hair and deep, booming voices.
In the water, they’re agile hunters — chasing fish and squid with surprising grace. On land, they move with effort but confidence.
They’re part of the rhythm of the coast — barking, brawling, diving, resting. Wild, loud, and shaped by both ocean and shore.
