Préoccupation mineure (LC)
Slender legs, a spotted coat, and constant awareness. Chital move in herds through forests and grasslands, pausing often to listen, always ready to bolt. Their calls are sharp, their ears quick to turn.
They often live alongside langurs — monkeys watching from the trees, deer scanning the ground below. When one species spots danger, both react.
Males carry tall, three-tined antlers and spar during the rut. But most of the time, chital are quiet — grazing, watching, moving as one. Not large, not aggressive — but built to sense what others miss.
