Meeting the African Savanna Elephant

Loxodonta africana

Statut de Conservation (Liste Rouge de l'UICN): En danger (EN)

The largest land animal on Earth moves with quiet authority — pulling branches, stirring dust, leaving wide, deliberate tracks. They travel in family groups led by experienced females. Calves are protected in the center, adults stay close, and nothing is forgotten.

They shape the landscape as they move — clearing paths, opening waterholes, scattering seeds. And they feel more than we often admit: recognition, grief, patience.

In the wild, their size is humbling. But their disappearance would be even greater.
