Meeting the Thomson’s Gazelle

Eudorcas thomsonii

Statut de Conservation (Liste Rouge de l'UICN): Préoccupation mineure (LC)

Small, swift, and finely built — they live on alert.

Thomson’s gazelles graze in open plains, where cover is scarce and predators are many. They rely on vision, reflexes, and sudden bursts of speed. When chased, they don’t just run — they zigzag, swerve, jolt sideways. Their tail flicks constantly, a white flash in the tall grass.

Males hold territories during the rut. Fights are fast, with sharp horns and quick feints. They may look delicate, but they’re survivors — built for lightness, sharpness, and staying just out of reach.
